Alleged jihadi in Chicago court

(CNN) – A young man allegedly on his way to fight for the terror group ISIS never made it out of Chicago, and instead could face the next 15 years in federal prison.

Mohammed Hanzah Khan, 19, faced a federal judge in Chicago today, charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.
Federal agents picked him up at O'Hare airport over the weekend, and say he was on his way to Turkey and then Syria to join the militant group.

CNN's Ted Rowlands reports.

2 American jihadis with ties to Minnesota

(CNN) – Abdirahmaan Muhumed is the second American said to have been killed while fighting for ISIS in Syria over the weekend, a U.S. official tells CNN.

The other American ISIS member killed was Douglas McAuthur McCain. Various reports have indicated that Muhumed, like McCain, had ties to Minnesota.

There has to be something besides a warmer climate that would draw Americans like these from Minnesota to the battlefield in Syria.

CNN's Ted Rowlands reports.

Arab neighbors joined ISIS slaughter, escaped Yazidi says

Faysh Khabur, Iraq (CNN) - In an exodus of almost biblical proportions, thousands trudge across a river to escape killers belonging to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

Entire families carry nothing but the clothes on their backs. Some are barefoot.

Jamal Jamir, a 23-year-old university student from Sinjar, told CNN his family fled to the barren and windswept Mount Sinjar more than a week ago after ISIS captured their town. The group, which calls itself the Islamic State, has been on a rampage, killing members of various minorities, including Yazidis.

Stars boycott famous Beverly Hills Hotel over its links to Sharia law

(CNN) – The Beverly Hills Hotel – nicknamed "The Pink Palace" – is where stars have flocked since Beverly Hills was nothing but lima bean fields.

Elizabeth Taylor honeymooned in the bungalows out back six times. Over the last hundred years, everyone from Charlie Chaplin to Brad Pitt could be spotted at the hotel.

But as CNN's Ted Rowlands reports, the sultan who owns it managed to alienate his famous clientele so much that Hollywood is taking its after-parties and coke binges elsewhere.

Midwest tornadoes: 'The sky was just rumbling'

Washington, Illinois (CNN) - Steve Bucher knew something was ominous about the weather.

"The sky was just rumbling for 20 minutes," Bucher said on CNN's "New Day," on Monday, the day after a devastating tornado outbreak destroyed his Washington, Illinois, home and dozens of others in several Midwestern states. "I told my wife I've just never heard anything like this in my life."
