Amid immigration crisis, Obama skips the border on trip to Texas

Washington (CNN) – It's a humanitarian crisis on American soil. But not one the President seems to think he needs to see with his own eyes.

More than 52,000 unaccompanied minors have fled Central America since October, many of them crossing the border alone, only to end up packed into over-flowing processing facilities.

And while the White House is trying to work with Central American countries to stop the influx, Obama himself is not scheduled to visit any border facilities, despite the fact that he'll actually be in Texas on Wednesday.

CNN's Michelle Kosinski reports.

Malia Obama turns sweet 16

(CNN) – Living in the White House on the 4th of July is not a bad way to celebrate your sweet 16.

Malia and Sasha Obama were ten and seven years old, just little kids when they first stole America's attention at the 2008 Democratic Convention.

Michelle Obama even once led a crowd singing happy birthday to young Malia, on the campaign trail.

And since then, quietly, mostly behind the scenes, they have suddenly become young women. They are now a couple of trend-wearing, gum-chewing, selfie-snapping, joke-sharing, occasionally bored-looking teenagers at the White House.

Malia, now sweet 16, is thinking about colleges, getting her learner's driving permit, and generally, looking to avoid her parents and all the trappings of non-normalcy, just like any teenager would.

Does Obama practice what he preaches on equal pay?

(CNN) – Is the pay fair, or unfair for women working at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

In a word: fair. The White House has a pay grade for each title, and male or female, those people holding those roles within each level make exactly the same amount.

Read: It pays to work for the White House

Where it gets ambiguous, and this keeps coming up, is that when the same kind of average the White House uses to continually push for more equal pay in America, is applied to the White House pay then, yes, there is also still a pay gap.

CNN's Michelle Kosinski reports.

Putin steals the show

(CNN) – Russian President Vladimir Putin was nowhere to be seen at the G7 summit, he was kicked out, after he decided to annex part of Ukraine.

But his presence was absolutely felt by G7 leaders, and as usual, he managed to get a few choice words in edgewise.

CNN's Michelle Kosinski reports.
