Hawaii volcano: Lava inches closer to homes, but some might stay

Pahoa, Hawaii (CNN) - A 2,000-degree river of lava could swallow a dozen Hawaiian homes in the next day or two - and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Molten rock from the Kilauea Volcano was about 350 yards from the nearest cluster of homes late Tuesday night, said Troy Scott of the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.

At some point Wednesday, the glowing lava could be visible from the houses, he said.

Dallas authorities scrambling to find anyone in contact with Ebola patient

(CNN) – The effort to contain America's first domestic case of Ebola ran into new problems over the weekend.

To prevent an Ebola outbreak, state and federal authorities are monitoring close to 50 other people who may have had contact with Thomas Duncan, visiting them twice a day taking their temperature and looking for symptoms.

On Sunday one of those being monitored went missing.

(CNN) – For the first time in weeks fishermen in Gaza tended to their nets, a sign of optimism the current cease-fire might actually work. But they don't take their boats beyond the break wall, in case it doesn't.

When it comes to peace, Palestinians have learned to hedge their bets.

Is fracking responsible for Oklahoma earthquakes?

(CNN) – Oklahoma has been experiencing an explosion in earthquake activity, believe it or not, it's had more than California this year.

But why?

A new study in Science Magazine links the uptick to a controversial drilling practice used by oil and gas companies, an industry that forms one of the pillars of Oklahoma's economy.

CNN's Martin Savidge reports after all this shaking, somebody might want to inspect that pillar for cracks.
