Spokesman: Hamas will not extend cease-fire, 'we are ready for a long war'

Jerusalem (CNN) – The military wing of Hamas announced at 9:15 p.m. Gaza time Thursday that, unless its demands are met, the 72-hour cease-fire will be over when it expires at 8 am tomorrow morning local time.

"The resistance is ready to pay the price and the people are behind the resistance," said Abu Obaida, the masked spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, in an announcement aired on Al Aqsa television.

Rocket fired into northern Israel from Lebanon as Gaza conflict endures

Jerusalem (CNN) - The option of an Israeli ground invasion into Gaza remained on the table Friday, as Hamas militants fired rockets into Israel for another day.

But the conflict has had an uneven toll: Israel's airstrikes on Gaza in response to the rocket attacks have left more than 100 dead and have pushed medical facilities there to the brink, Palestinian officials said.

The spokesman for Gaza's Ministry of Health told CNN that more than 100 people - including 23 children and 24 women - have been killed, and nearly 800 others have been injured.

Palestinian teen's abduction, killing intensifies tensions in Mideast

Jerusalem (CNN) - The discovery of a slain Palestinian teen in Jerusalem early Wednesday triggered clashes between Israelis and Palestinians, further inflaming tensions that spiked this week with the discovery of the three Israeli teens' bodies.

Mohammad Abu Khedair, 17, was heading from his Jerusalem home to a mosque for prayers around 4 a.m. when three men forced him into a car and drove away, his father, Hussain Abu Khedair, told CNN. His body was discovered about an hour later at a forest in the city.
