Attorney General Holder reveals his biggest failure

Washington (CNN) - Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday that he found it "frustrating" that the Justice Department hasn't been able to carry out criminal prosecutions of executives whose risky banking practices blamed for the global financial crisis.

As Holder wraps up nearly six years at the helm of the Justice Department, the attorney general has drawn criticism for his department's record on white collar crime.

Secret Service director out: What was the last straw?

(CNN) - Julia Pierson, the first female director of the Secret Service, resigned Wednesday in the aftermath of a fence-jumper gaining access to the White House on September 19 and a subsequent congressional inquiry uncovering other security lapses.

Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson announced the resignation in a statement. He also announced that the Department of Homeland Security would take over an internal inquiry of the Secret Service and that he would appoint of a new panel to review security at the White House.

Oklahoma beheading: Lone wolf terrorist attack, or disgruntled murderer?

(CNN) - A man suspected of beheading a woman and stabbing another worker at an Oklahoma food plant was fired right before the attack, police said Friday.

Alton Alexander Nolen, 30, was terminated from his job at Vaughan Foods processing plant just before the rampage Thursday afternoon in Moore, Oklahoma, just outside Oklahoma City, said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis of the Moore Police Department.

After "he was terminated, he drove to the front of the business, running into a vehicle, exited his vehicle, entered the business, where he encountered the first victim, Colleen Hufford, 54, and began assaulting her with a knife. He did kill Colleen and he did sever her head."

No indications of N.Y. subway terror plot, U.S. officials say

New York (CNN) - U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies have no indications of an ISIS terrorist plot against U.S. subway systems, two U.S. law enforcement officials told CNN on Thursday.

The officials were responding to media reports that Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi told reporters at the United Nations on Thursday that his country's intelligence agency had uncovered an imminent ISIS plot against New York and Paris subway systems.

A senior administration official told CNN on Thursday that "no one in the U.S. government is aware of such a plot and it was not raised with us in our meetings with Iraqi officials" at the United Nations, including a meeting between al-Abadi, President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.
