(CNN) – New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has been in office for less than a year, but his relationship with officers inside the New York Police Department has been marred by accusations that he is anti-cop.
At a press conference earlier Monday the mayor issued a call for calm, but anger is boiling over and shows no signs of cooling off. NYPD officers literally turned their backs on de Blasio over the weekend.
Can this division between the mayor and NYPD be healed?
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, co-chair of President Obama's task force on 21st century policing, tackles that issue and more in the video above.
