(CNN) – Police Sgt. Pete Simpson says officers are currently looking for one suspect who shot three victims at a Portland, Oregon, high school Friday.
"Our preliminary information is one suspect. There may have been others with him when they fled the scene," Simpson said in an interview with CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."
Police say it is no longer an active shooter situation at Rosemary Anderson High School.
"This is now a static environment, it's safe, and we are beginning the investigative phase," Simpson said.
Three student-age people, two males and a female, were shot near the campus and ran inside a school building after being shot, reported CNN affiliate KOIN.
The victims were breathing and conscious as they were transported to a hospital, according to the police. Their condition was not immediately available.
"They all were conscious and talking at the scene, which is always a good sign," Simpson said. "With gunshot wounds they can be unpredictable once you get to the hospital. But as of right now, they're all alive and being treated."
