(CNN) - In our politics lead, a pending standoff between the republican congress and the democratic president surrounding this question: is an executive order on immigration illegal?
Insiders suggest that President Obama may sign at least one executive order as early as this week, opening a path to legal residency for millions of people in the country illegally.
In addition to all the questions about what this will do to an already staggeringly dysfunctional Washington D.C., the question arises: does he even have the legal authority to take this step without congressional approval?
It's a question being raised by republicans and democrats alike and one the president answered himself in previous interviews.
White House correspondent Michelle Kosinski joined "The Lead" with more on whether the president has flip flopped on this issue.
