(CNN) – A Canadian journalist witnessed first hand the chaos that unfolded in the country's capital Wednesday, saying he arrived "to a scene of obviously high anxiety and drama."
CBC television producer Chris Goldrick arrived at Ottawa's War Memorial and saw a Canadian soldier on the ground, with several officers and a civilian performing CPR on him.
As the minutes passed, he told CNN, heavily armed police arrived on the scene, and began securing the area. The gunman ran from the War Memorial toward Parliament Hill, jumping a fence, and commandeering a car on the way.
