Priest: New Vatican tone means ‘gays and lesbians are going to feel a lot more welcome’

(CNN) - In a stunning shift, a new Vatican report says the church should welcome and appreciate gays.

"Practically speaking it means a lot of gays and lesbians are going to feel a lot more welcome," says Jesuit priest Father James Martin, author of "Jesus: A Pilgrimage."

Nurses advocate on Ebola in U.S.: Government failing to prep us for Ebola threat

(CNN) – The vice president of a nurses' advocacy group says lack of training on how to handle Ebola patients is "a disaster waiting to happen."

"We need standard, full protection for us, and for our patients. It's not enough that (the CDC) put out guidelines. It has to be fully enforced," said registered nurse Zenei Cortez, vice president of National Nurses United.

Battle for Syria's Kobani intensifies; ISIS takes Iraq base

(CNN) - The battle for a key Syrian city on the Turkish border intensified Monday as ISIS continued its push for control of Kobani while also scoring a victory in neighboring Iraq, taking a strategically important military base in Anbar province.

A fighter from the Kurdish People's Protection Unit, or YPG, told CNN's Arwa Damon that the battle in Kobani concerned the main border crossing into Turkey. If ISIS took control, he said, "it's over."
