NIH official: Ebola in U.S. possible, but outbreak 'extremely unlikely'

(CNN) – A few cases of Ebola may yet strike developed nations like the United States, the United Kingdom, or other European countries. But the likelihood of an outbreak like the one ravaging West Africa at the moment is fairly low, says a director at the National Institutes of Health.

There may be "a case or two outside of Africa, but it is extremely unlikely that it will explode into the outbreak we're seeing now," said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infection Diseases at the NIH.

Should the U.S. raise terror alert, like the U.K.?

(CNN) – According to AAA, 35 million Americans will be traveling this labor day weekend, the highest number in six years.

So pack the kids in the car, board a flight, or take a seat on the train - and don't worry too much about ISIS terrorists committing an atrocity on U.S. soil, according to the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, who are unaware of "any specific, credible threat to the U.S. homeland" from ISIS.

This, despite the British government raising the alarm about ISIS within its own borders.

On this holiday weekend, why is London so worried, and Washington not?

CNN's Barbara Starr reports.

Will Americans see increased security over the Labor Day weekend?

(CNN) – Americans will see increased security this Labor Day weekend. But the TSA tells CNN that's a function of it being a busy travel weekend not because of a specific threat.

That said, they are doing more.

Officials tell CNN they are actively tracking known foreign fighters who travel in and out of Syria, but the problem is the unknown fighters.

CNN's René Marsh reports.

Obama's foreign policy criticized in wake of 'no strategy' remark

By CNN chief Washington correspondent Jake Tapper, and Eric Marrapodi

(CNN) – ISIS is a terror group with big ambitions. The group, also known as ISIL, has taken cities in Iraq and Syria, and even killed an American citizen.

In response, the United Kingdom elevated its terror threat from "substantial" to "severe."

"Today I want to set out the scale and nature of the threat we face, and the comprehensive approach that we are taking to combat it," Prime Minister David Cameron said Friday. "This is not some foreign conflict thousands of miles from home that we can hope to ignore. The ambition to create an extremist caliphate in the heart of Iraq and Syria is a threat to our own security here in the U.K."

Cameron's announcement seemed a stark contrast to the message conveyed by President Obama Thursday.

Obama: Russia's actions will have costs, consequences

(CNN) – President Barack Obama placed blame for the violence in Ukraine on Russia Wednesday.

"The violence is encouraged by Russia. The separatists are trained by Russia; they are armed by Russia; they are funded by Russia," he told reporters in Washington.

Calling sanctions against Russia already in place "effective," he said it would face additional costs and consequences for its ongoing incursion.

"Russia is already more isolated than at any time since the end of the Cold War," Obama said.
