(CNN) – Rep. Lacy Clay, D-Missouri, whose district includes the town of Ferguson, Missouri, has a message for Michael Brown's family: You do not stand alone.
Michael Brown was the unarmed black teenager killed by a white officer, Darren Wilson, on August 9 in Ferguson. The shooting death sparked marches, and violent clashes between protesters and heavily armed police. Thousands of people attended the 18-year-old Brown's funeral Monday.
"Several members of the Congressional Black Caucus came here today, and we intend to stand with this family until they receive justice," Clay said in an interview with CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."
For Clay and his constituents, justice means Officer Wilson must be punished.
"They want to see someone punished for the wrongful death of an innocent young man," said Clay.
