(CNN) – For many of us, Robin Williams came into our lives as the backward-aging Mork from Ork. Quite the big break for a man whose audience before this, were pedestrians. Show creator Garry Marshall said when he was casting Mork, his sister told him he just had to see this street performer. What has he done, Marshall asked.
"He's done nothing. He stands on a street corner and he does mime, and he passes his hat around, and they give him coins. That's what he's done so far. And you have to see him," Marshall said in an August 2000 interview.
From the very beginning, there was something unpredictable and even unsafe about what Williams brought to the small screen sitcom world. You never knew what was scripted, and what was his manic improvisation.
Faysh Khabur, Iraq (CNN) - An Iraqi helicopter being used to bring aid to trapped Yazidis on Mount Sinjar crashed Tuesday, state-run Iraqiya TV reported.
The military cited "technical failure" in the crash of the MI-17.

The survivors were evacuated by the Kurdistan Regional Government, al-Iraqiya reported. Among them was Vian Dakhil, the only Yazidi in parliament.
(CNN) – Human Rights Watch has people on the ground in Iraq, and they are seeing "all kinds of atrocities" being carried out by ISIS, says the group's executive director Ken Roth.
"We saw a mass execution of Shia men in Tikrit a short time ago. Currently there's been clearly a roundup of the Yazidi minority. The execution of men, the capturing of women to create brides for fighters, there's absolute terror among the Yazidi," said Roth.
