Mayor: We're close to Hurricane Arthur's eye wall, and it's going to get worse

(CNN) – Hurricane Arthur muscled up early Thursday evening, pouring heavy rain along the coast of North Carolina.

"We're probably pretty close to the eye wall," said Bill Blair, mayor of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. "It's probably going to get a little worse before it gets better."

The National Weather Service in Wilmington said 1 1/3 inches of rain fell during one hour Thursday afternoon. The office also tweeted that there was some flooding just south of downtown.

Expert: Move away from storms, don't ride them out

(CNN) – Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré (Ret.), who commanded military relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, tells CNN beach goers are not taking hurricanes seriously enough, and need to move away from the water as Hurricane Arthur hits.

Hurricane Arthur expected to get stronger, brush N.C. coast

(CNN) - As Hurricane Arthur muscled up early Thursday evening, heavy rain began to fall along the coast of North Carolina.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington said 1 1/3 inches of rain fell during one hour Thursday afternoon. The office also tweeted that there was some flooding just south of downtown.

The storm's strongest sustained winds were 90 mph.

Uproar over cheerleader’s ‘trophy hunts’ posted on Facebook

(CNN) – Kendall Jones is just your average college sophomore. She's a cheerleader at Texas Tech, working on a marketing and sports therapy degree.

But she also travels to countries like Zimbabwe and South Africa to kill big game like lions, rhinos, and elephants, and posts pictures on Facebook of herself posing – with a big smile – beside the dead animals.

Legal analysts: There was a lot of hearsay in hot car hearing

(CNN) – Murder and child cruelty charges against a father whose son died after being left in a car will go to a grand jury after a Cobb County judge found probable cause for the charges Thursday.

CNN legal analysts Sunny Hostin, Mark Garagos, and Paul Callan, along with criminal defense attorney Holly Hughes weigh in on the shocking hearing.
