Cyber bullies using apps like Snapchat, where evidence disappears

(CNN) – Tricia Norman thought she was being a conscientious mom, keeping tabs on her daughter's social media accounts.

But like many parents, she found monitoring online communications was getting harder with things constantly changing.

The growing trend of apps such as Snapchat and Ask.Fm, where messages easily disappear, have raised alarms; many are concerned they could be used to hide sexting or inappropriate posts.

And it's not just parents, they're a problem for law enforcement, too. Especially when something goes terribly wrong.

CNN's Sara Ganim reports.

Are you a heavy drinker? You'd be surprised

(CNN) – Women are considered "heavy drinkers" if they have eight or more drinks a week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Men can have 14. At 15, you, my friend, are a "heavy drinker" in the eyes of the CDC.

One in 10 deaths among adults between the ages of 20 and 64 are due to excessive alcohol consumption, the CDC says in a report released Wednesday. That means some 88,000 people die a year as a result of drinking too much. The majority of those are men - about 70%.

Do you consider yourself a light, moderate or heavy drinker? Health agencies have these definitions to help you understand when your drinking may become a health problem.

Vargas: Undocumented and hiding in plain sight

Editor's note: Jose Antonio Vargas, the founder of Define American, is the writer and director of "Documented," airing on CNN on Sunday, June 29, at 9 p.m. ET. The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of the author.

(CNN) - "What do you want to do with me? What do you want to do with us? How do you define American?"

On behalf of 11 million undocumented immigrants like me - many of us Americans in all but papers - I asked those questions to the Senate Judiciary Committee in February 2013, nearly two years after I publicly outed myself as an undocumented immigrant in The New York Times Magazine.

Against the advice of lawyers, I wrote, in detail, what I had to do to live and survive in America: hide in plain sight as I worked as a journalist for more than a decade; lie on government forms to get jobs while paying taxes and contributing to Social Security(undocumented workers provide billions in both); grow estranged from my mother in the Philippines who put me on a plane to the United States in 1993. In outing myself, I risked everything and prepared myself for anything.

Panel: Obama's a lame duck, dressing up as a bear

(CNN) – His poll numbers are in the basement. Chaos is erupting in the Middle East. And the gridlock on Capitol Hill right now makes Manhattan rush hour look like a walk in the park.

The White House is facing attacks on all fronts, and as President Obama's second term wanes on, his critics are already dubbing him a "lame duck".

On Friday, more than five years into his presidency, the commander-in-chief is back out on the trail, trying to get himself associated with a different kind of power animal – a bear.

Obama, the ‘Bear,’ is loose and trying to reconnect with voters

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama first said it two weeks ago during an impromptu walk from the White House to the Interior Department and then again during a quick coffee run to Starbucks just last Monday.

"The bear is loose," he said.

And now he’s modified his new-found catch phrase. At a town hall event in Minnesota on Thursday, he added for emphasis: "I'm feeling super loose today."
