(CNN) – The stock market has hit record highs again and again this year, but those gains are far removed from many Americans, especially the middle class, 10.5 million Americans are still out of work.
Is this high market, with not much trickling down and reaching the rest of the American public, the new normal?
"The market's been dislocated from the economy for awhile now, because what seems to drive corporate profits has very little to do with what gets people jobs," says managing principal at Seventh Capital Investment Monica Mehta.
