No snow day for New York City kids

(CNN) – New York Mayor Bill de Blasio held a press conference Thursday to give an update on the roads and weather, but all he got were questions about why the schools were kept open.

"We, unlike certain other cities in this country, we don't shut down in the face of some adversity," de Blasio said. "Based on the information we have, it was abundantly clear we were not going to have the kind of overwhelming snow that would make it impossible for kids to get to school."

Did New York's mayor just take a swipe at Washington, D.C.? And more importantly, did he make the right decision?

"I think a rock and a hard place to make that decision," Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer told CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."
