Why 'Duck Dynasty' will weather the storm

(CNN) - Season five of reality show "Duck Dynasty" debuts tonight on A&E, and it will feature a new character: Rebecca Robertson, a former foreign exchange student from Taiwan who was taken in by original cast members Willie and Korie Robertson.

This will also be the first new episode of the show since the controversy involving family patriarch Phil Robertson. His remarks about gays and African Americans sparked an uproar, that led to Robertson's temporary suspension last month.

Report: Benghazi attacks preventable

(CNN) - A newly declassified report states that the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi that claimed four American lives never had to happen.

A bipartisan study from the Senate Intelligence Committee blames the State Department for ignoring myriad warning signs about deteriorating security in Libya for months.

The attacks were preventable, both Democrats and Republicans agree in the report.

Police: New Mexico shooter may have warned some students before attack

(CNN) - The preteen shooter who opened fire inside a crowded middle school gym with a shotgun may have warned some students not to go to school before the attack, police in New Mexico said.

The revelation is part of the many angles police are looking into after Tuesday's shooting that left two students wounded, a New Mexico community stunned and a nation again wondering about the safety of its schoolchildren.

"We have preliminary information that possibly some of the students were warned by the individual prior to the shooting not to go to school," said New Mexico State Police Chief Pete Kassetas during a news conference Tuesday night.

New hope for American P.O.W

Washington (CNN) - The U.S. military has obtained new video apparently made by those holding the lone American prisoner of war, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

A U.S. military official told CNN the clip shows the Wood Valley, Idaho, native in diminished health from the effects of close to five years in captivity.

He was seized in Afghanistan in June 2009 and is believed held by the Taliban-aligned Haqqani network in Pakistan, the official said.
