Exactly 50 years ago today, 250,000 people came from all over the country – by car, by train, by bus – and packed into the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The day was hot. They had marched through the nation's capital, and they were standing in the sun, mopping sweat from their brows.
Then the moment arrived, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. shared his dream:
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today."
It became clear that day – if it wasn't clear already- that change was coming.
