Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman: U.S. has 'no real policy' to handle cyberterrorism

(CNN) - President Obama scolded Sony Pictures today for scrapping plans to release "The Interview." And Sony hit back, telling CNN exclusively that they had no choice.

The movie itself may be a farce, but the 'bigger picture' here has very serious implications for U.S. national security.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein characterized the attack as "monumental," and acknowledged that U.S. lacks any "real policy" to respond to cybersecurity attacks.

"What's different to me about this attack is the monumental size of it, and secondly, there is extortion involved with it. In other words, the North Koreans are saying, unless you do this, we will do that," Sen. Feinstein (D-CA) tells CNN's Jake Tapper. "And this is where it becomes extraordinarily dangerous. In the six years that have gone by, we have no real policy to handle this."
