Washington (CNN) - U.S. President Barack Obama has authorized reconnaissance flights over Syria as ISIS militants continue to gain ground in the war-ravaged nation, a U.S. official told CNN.
The flights - seen as a forerunner of possible U.S. airstrikes against ISIS in Syria - could begin at any point, the official said Monday.
(CNN) - A lengthy report on wait times at VA health care facilities in Phoenix found that 28 veterans had "clinically significant delays" in care, and six of them died, but investigators couldn't conclusively link their deaths to the delays.
The scathing report, released Tuesday by the Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Inspector General, said the delays were because of scheduling issues.
There were also 17 patients - 14 of whom died - in the review who received poor care but not as a result of access or scheduling issues.
(CNN) – Burger King's decision to merge with doughnut chain Tim Hortons and move its base to Canada has everyone from customers to congressmen more fired up than a flame-broiled patty.

(CNN) – Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, has been an outspoken critic on tax loopholes, like tax inversion, a loophole that Burger King may benefit from if it merges with Canadian doughnut chain Tim Hortons and moves its base to Canada.
The deal would mean a lower rate for the American fast food chain.
"Not only is this tax inversion an outrage, we are losing now about $100 billion in federal revenue every year," Sanders said in an interview with CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."
(CNN) - Could a newly released audio provide more clues on what led up to Michael Brown's shooting death?
The FBI has questioned a man who says he recorded audio of gunfire at the time Brown was shot by Ferguson, Missouri, police on August 9, the man's attorney told CNN.
In the recording, a quick series of shots can be heard, followed by a pause and then another quick succession of shots.
Forensic audio expert Paul Ginsberg analyzed the recording and said he detected at least 10 gunshots - a cluster of six, followed by four.
