Fmr. FBI negotiator: Swapping Bergdahl for 5 prisoners is an 'embarrassing' deal

(CNN) – Securing Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's release in exchange for five Guantanamo Bay prisoners was a great deal for the Taliban, says a former FBI kidnapping negotiator.

"I would have been embarrassed to make this deal. Five for one? I can't see how this was a good deal for us, on top of that, from what I understand, they named the people they wanted," says Chris Voss, now CEO of Black Swan Group, a private negotiating company.

"It's also been reported that they refused to talk if the deal wasn't made. To me, that's embarrassing," said Voss.

For more of our interview with Chris Voss, including his thoughts on what the newly released Taliban footage of Bergdahl being released, check out the video above.
