Was MH370 search a waste of time?

(CNN) – Today would be day 83 in the search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

Except right now no one's searching, and that's because investigators need to figure out where to search next, and whether or not the last month of searching was a complete waste.

The Bluefin 21, the underwater drone that has been searching for signs of wreckage for weeks, has completed its mission.

And while Australia says they're still confident that the plane is somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean, they're making a stunning admission about what was previously called their most promising lead, saying the underwater pings were likely not from the plane's black boxes.

Have searchers basically wasted a month searching the area with these pings? Sea operations and submersible expert Captain Tim Taylor joins CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper" to discuss.
