(CNN) – President Barack Obama issued a red line earlier this month, outlining what his administration would do if Russia did not de-escalate the situation in Ukraine.
"Russian leadership must know that if it continues to destabilize eastern Ukraine, and disrupt this month's presidential election, we will move quickly on additional steps, including further sanctions that will impose greater cost," Obama said.
