Multiple doctors have declared 13 year old Jahi McMath brain dead, but her family is hoping that a new hospital may make the difference.
They say a hospital in San Francisco has agreed to give Jahi long-term care, although she would need feeding tubes inserted into her body in order to be transferred away from her current facility.
The emotional and painful ordeal began after Jahi suffered complications from a tonsillectomy in early December. She was put on life support, and doctors at the hospital in Oakland, California insisted family members pull the plug.
Jahi's mother, Nailah Winkfield, said on CNN's "The Lead" that she just wants the hospital to let them move Jahi, "her heart is still beating, so there's still life there."
